Ring cleaning and servicing- professional and reliable

Windows Live Photo Gallery Wallpaper

Your diamond rings- you love them, cherish them, and above all wear them as much as you can -why not? You've invested a lot of time (and perhaps money) into searching for them! So now that you have those shiny new pieces of jewellery which you adore, have you thought about how you are going to take care of them? Here are some of our tips on assuring you can wear your rings with confidence for many years to come.

Let's talk about cars (only for a second!) and compare them to your diamond rings. Throughout your car's lifetime, it will be serviced every year, you will clean it and maybe have some spare parts replaced. You do all these things to keep your car in good working condition- after all, it's being used everyday.

Now lets talk about diamond rings, we understand most, if not all our clients, love wearing their rings everyday. Whatever your hands touch, your rings touch- they maybe take more wear and tear than you realise. That is why it is very important to have your rings serviced by a professional goldsmith, so we can keep them in great condition, and allow you to wear them with confidence.

It is very common after a bump or continual wear, for settings to loosen/claws to wear away, causing the diamond to move around or, in worst case scenario, fall out. Here is a diagram of what a worn claw looks like on a ring- notice how the claw is barely covering the diamond. When nothing is covering the diamond, it is at risk of falling out.

So once your ring has taken some wear and tear, what should you do? We recommend to our clients to have their jewellery professionally cleaned and serviced every 6-12 months. This way we can flag up any repair work needing done. During this process, one of our professional goldsmiths will check the security of your diamonds and gems. We will then advise on what work (if any) needs done. We carry out all our repairs in-house, and it takes around 10-14 days to complete.

If your rings don't require any repair work, we will continue with the cleaning process. The metal is buffed to remove any surface scratches, polished to acheive a high shine, and cleaned using an ultra sonic jewellery cleaning unit. After this your rings will look as good as new.

1) Our shop in Larkhall is also where we make our jewellery and carry out all reparis. Just a few short steps from the design desk is the bench where we make your bespoke item. Many people don't know where their jewellery goes when having it made or repaired, so we are very proud to offer this extra guarantee

of security.

2) Malcolm Paris, the director of the business worked with the BBC for many years, and now transfers those skills into the business. Every photo of our

beautiful jewellery is taken by him. We believe in showing you the real thing, that's why on our website you will not find any computer generated images, simply jewellery we have either made as a commission or made to sell.

3) Shirley and Malcolm work with their daughter Hannah who is a designer and the shop manager and eldest son Adam who is a goldsmith. We are very proud to offer a professional and friendly experience in our family run store.

4) When Shirley left school she immediatly entered the jewellery trade, serving an apprenticeship before setting up her own business in 1987. She has a wealth of knowledge on diamond selecting and design obtained over many years in the industry.

Halo Engagement Rings

If you have glanced in any jewellery shop window or skimmed through a bridal magazine recently, it will come as no shock that Halo Engagement Rings are the most on trend design at the moment. With a small 'Halo' of sparkling diamonds surrounding a beautiful centre stone and some with diamonds down the shoulders, whats not to like? But with this designs popularity increasing, how can you make sure yours stands out from the rest? Consider your centre stone- why not go for a more unusual cut, like the Asscher cut diamond (pictured below) as an alternative to a princess cut or emerald cut. It is a rarer cut not normally seen in an everyday Engagement Ring. Then there are coloured centre stones. Sapphires are second to the Diamond on MOHs scale of Hardness. So why not incorporate this stunning gem into your engagement ring which will be sure to withstand the many years of wearing ahead! Aswell as being tough, sapphires are known to come in a variety of beautiful colours- think pink, peach, purple, yellow, green and blue. This classic style twinned with an unusual stone or cut of diamond will ensure a timeless style of Engagement Ring.

Brides- lets get creative with your Wedding Ring!

If you are one of the lucky ones out there who has received a stunning Engagement Ring which suits your style and personality, great! Now since you weren't involved in the designing of your Engagement Ring, why not use the matching Wedding Ring as your chance to get creative? With the Engagement Ring holding such significance, many brides like to keep the Wedding Ring design simple. This way no attention is taken from the Engagement Ring. However, when the Wedding Ring symbolises the eternal love for your fiancé, why not use this as a chance to have both your personalities reflected in the design? Many times we have had clients who are set on a simple Wedding Band, then having seen the options available to make it unique to them, they often have a change of heart. This could involve adding a touch of rose gold to a platinum Wedding Ring, or a few diamonds to match the shoulders of your Engagement Ring. Whichever you decide to choose, make sure and choose something which will stand the test of time. At the end of your big day your Wedding Rings are what you take home- along with your new Husband!

Unusual Gemstones

This ring was created for a client's special Birthday. She specifically wanted a Spessartite Garnet, so we showed her a few loose stones and this was the final choice.

Are you looking for a piece of jewellery with an unusual gem? We can get in a selection of any gemstone to let you see during the design stage.
